The Dark Mirror is a concept album six years in the making that harkens back to the glory days of the 1970's. Inspiration from super groups such as Pink Flyod, Genesis, Yes, Queen and Rush can all be heard throughout the rich textures and layers that adorn this album. Much of the classic feeling is created by extensive use of sought after vintage guitars and synthsizers commonly used on the classic prog rock albums we all know and love. Instruments like Mellotrons and Moog synthesizers or period Gibson and Fender guitars played through vintage Marshalll and Vox amplifiers provide a unique tonal quality and an air of familiarity. That is not to say that The Dark Mirror is a paradoy of the classics but rather a fresh and ingenious blend of modern digital engineering techniques combined with vintage analog recording methods and most importantly song crafting.
